Plant Breeder’s Rights Act No: 5042 allows plant breeders’ to legally protect new varieties of reproduced plants in Turkey. The Law entered into force on 15.01.2004. Upon adoption of this new protection type on November 18, 2007, Turkey became the 65th member of UPOV (International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants).

Orbis IP & Law is allowed and able to obtain, maintain and enforce plant breeders’ rights before the Variety Registration and Seed Certification Center & the General Directorate of Plant Production, which is a part of the Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock in Turkiye.
